The science-led food brand has released a new range of recipes to support specific health conditions. We put it in the spotlight…

Dog owners are increasingly understanding the impact of nutrition on canine health. But what happens if your dog has a health condition? The choice of food can be even more critical. And with six million dogs in the UK managing ongoing health issues, that’s why Arden Grange has launched a new range to help.

VetCare’s PARNUT-compliant recipes meet the strict nutritional standards required for pets with specific conditions while supporting overall vitality and well-being. Each of the five targeted recipes support a specific condition, and have benefits for wider health and well-being.

While reviewing the VetCare range will take a bit of work to find the right dog, owner, and their vet, we wanted to put the food under examination so asked Arden Grange to take part in a product focus Q&A…

How much of an impact can diet actually have on health conditions?

Diet plays a pivotal role in everyday health and vitality and even more so when it
comes to managing specific health conditions in pets.

The science behind our VetCare range ensures that every recipe is formulated to deliver measurable support for specific health needs. These diets provide true functional benefits, backed by verifiable standards and transparent formulation practices, giving pet owners confidence in the results they deliver.

When the appropriate diet is introduced, signs of improvement or stabilisation in the pet’s condition can often be observed as the food takes effect. There may also be other positive benefits, such as appealing to dogs with decreased appetite, due to illness, as the recipes are rich in high-quality meat which enhances palatability and flavour.

It is essential to remember that while these specially formulated diets can powerfully support a pet’s health, they are not a replacement for veterinary treatment. We strongly recommend consulting with a veterinarian before introducing or extending the feeding period of these any veterinary diets.

Tell us more about being PARNUT-compliant and how this makes the diets beneficial for pets with certain conditions?

PARNUT (foods for Particular Nutritional purposes) refers to a specialised category of pet food formulated to meet specific dietary requirements for pets with unique health conditions or nutritional needs. All Arden Grange VetCare diets are PARNUT-compliant, meaning that the pet food has an intended use, adheres to regulations, meets quality assurance for specific health conditions, and is subject to strict veterinary standards.

This compliance is verified through audits and testing, ensuring consistent product quality and reliability. Pet owners can feel reassured and confident that every meal they provide is not only safe and effective but thoughtfully formulated to genuinely support their pet’s health and well-being.

Is it recommended that owners check with their vet before beginning a VetCare diet?

Yes. While our VetCare diets do not require a prescription, we strongly recommend consulting a veterinarian before making dietary changes. This ensures your dog receives the most appropriate nutritional support, helping them to recover and thrive on a diet suited to their individual needs.

Could you tell us about each of the recipes?

VetCare consists of five different recipes available in dry and wet formulas:

  • Gastrointestinal: Supports in the reduction of intestinal absorptive disorders, compensates for maldigestion, and aids in managing chronic pancreatic insufficiency

  •  Renal: Helps to support renal function in cases of chronic renal insufficiency and regulation of oxalate stones formation

  • Hypoallergenic: Helps to support skin function in the case of dermatosis and excessive loss of hair. Supports in the reduction of ingredient and nutrient intolerances

  • Joint Care: Supports joint metabolism in the case of osteoarthritis

  • Weight Control: Helps to aid weight loss and to regulate glucose supply in cases of diabetes mellitus

As the range is PARNUT-compliant, each formulation is designed to meet a specific nutritional profile that supports the particular needs of the dog. It is the complete nutritional formulation, rather than any singular ingredient, that provides the intended support. In addition, the recipes have been formulated in line with the Arden Grange 'nutrition first' philosophy – we use only natural ingredients with open declaration, giving customers complete confidence in what they’re feeding their dogs – no hidden fillers, no surprises.

How have the diets been received by experts and vets?

The Arden Grange VetCare range has been met with great enthusiasm and trust by both veterinary experts and pet care professionals. Although the range is new to the UK, all VetCare recipes have been rigorously reviewed and approved by our in-house veterinarian, meeting strict veterinary and regulatory standards (PARNUT-compliant).

Our brand charity partner, Many Tears Animal Rescue, has provided glowing feedback after implementing VetCare diets for dogs in their care who have specific diagnosed health conditions.

Founder, Sylvia Van Atta, shared, "We’ve been fortunate to introduce the Arden Grange VetCare range with the dogs in our care, and the results have been outstanding. The new diets have made a noticeable difference to the health, vitality, and overall well-being of our dogs, many of whom come to us with specific health challenges. It’s heart-warming to see once struggling dogs thrive on a nutritious and thoughtfully designed diet. Arden Grange VetCare has truly been a game-changer for us, and we are excited to continue incorporating it into our dogs’ journeys toward healthier, happier lives."

We are also proud to have the support of Dr Marvin J Firth, an internationally recognised veterinary pathologist and seasoned practitioner. With over 16 years of global veterinary expertise, a deep commitment to pet welfare, and a profound understanding of the human–animal bond, Dr Firth brings invaluable insight to Arden Grange. His involvement underscores Arden Grange’s mission to elevate pet’s lives through science-led, natural nutrition.

Pet owners take a lot of time picking diets to benefit the health of their pets. As well as helping managing specific health conditions, do the recipes in the VetCare range have wider health benefits?

We understand that owners feed their dogs with care, especially those that have taken the time to carefully select a natural, high-quality diet that prioritises nutrition because they want their pet to thrive. When a health diagnosis comes, suddenly they need to make a change and can feel the choice is no longer their own. Arden Grange VetCare is here for that moment. The moment they realise supporting their pet’s condition doesn’t mean they have to compromise.

Our VetCare range is thoughtfully formulated not only to help support specific health conditions but also to contribute towards overall health. The range is 100% grain free, making it gentle on digestion and suitable for pets with sensitivities. Each recipe is packed with nutritious, functional ingredients, including superfoods, prebiotics, and other carefully selected components that support immunity, digestion, and overall vitality. By choosing VetCare, pet owners can be confident they are promoting their pet’s long-term health and well-being while addressing any specific dietary needs.
