Jeepers! A Scooby-Doo lookalike at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in Old Windsor has been trying to solve the mystery of why he’s spent nearly half of his life in kennels.

One-year-old Mongrel Vinnie is one of Battersea’s longest stays, having been a resident at Battersea for over 200 days. Vinnie’s owners bought him as a puppy from a seller at a petrol station, and then brought him to Battersea just seven months later after they found his puppy-like behaviour difficult to cope with.

Sean Welland, Rehoming and Welfare Manager at Battersea Old Windsor says:

“We’re not exactly sure what mixture of breeds Vinnie is made up of, but his tall height, pointed ears, handsome face and colouring is very reminiscent of the famous Scooby-Doo.”

“Not only does our Vinnie look a lot like Scooby, but he also has many of the same character traits. He loves to be outside exploring, but he’s not always aware of his large size and can be a bit clumsy. Like Scooby, he’s also a bit of a scaredy cat and gets nervous in new situations. He’d really like to find a mystery gang of his own in time for Halloween, so that he doesn’t have to face the spooky monsters under the bed alone. He needs owners who are prepared to take the time to show him that things aren’t that scary, just like Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne do for Scooby.”

“Most of all, Vinnie loves to be surrounded by his favourite people, and would like to live with owners who are based at home, so that they can hang out and solve mysteries together as often as possible. While he likes to solve mysteries with other dogs, he’d prefer to be the only dog in the gang.”

“And of course, just like Scooby he loves a nice snack!”
