Issue Summary

This can be a lovely time of the year for dogs and their owners, with day trips, dog-friendly breaks, and get-togethers with friends and family to enjoy, plus all the good things associated with them. Of course, it’s also a time when we have to be extra careful of our pets, particularly during warm weather. Any change in routine, and participation in new activities and adventures, needs to be carefully monitored to ensure our dogs are safe, comfortable, and happy in what they are doing.

Lots of people enjoy taking their dogs swimming at this time of year, either to the beach or possibly a nearby lake in a local beauty spot. Not every dog enjoys swimming, but those who do can find it hugely rewarding, and it’s important to make sure your dog’s swimming experience is as safe as possible. Our ‘Safe swimming guide’, on page 20 this issue, has lots of advice on the best places to swim, the places to avoid, and things to watch out for that could cause your dog harm, to help you ensure you have a fun and safe experience.
