Brittany Breed Profile

c0a1365c-afbe-4d4b-b169-420863ebe507
As its name suggests the Brittany breed originated in the Northern region of France. They are the smallest of the hunt-point-retrieve and still popular as a working gundog to this day.

Brittany character

The Breed Standard describes the Brittany as having an "exceedingly keen game sense". Friendly, sweet natured and sensitive. The Brittany is regarded as being easy to train but sensitive to criticism and so should be treated in an even-handed manner. They should get on fine with any other pets or children provided that they are adequately socialized.

Brittany size

Dogs should ideally measure 48-51cm at the withers, bitches 47-50cm.

Brittany health

A generally healthy breed, especially if they enjoy enough exercise, although there is a higher than normal incidence of canine epilepsy amongst the Brittany. Their athletic nature also makes them prone to hip Dysplasia.
