The Japanese Spitz is closely associated with the Samoyed breed, similar in look an temperament. They are a wonderful companion breed and have been bred to live closely with their owners, suffering terribly if forced to spend time on their own or sleep outside.

They will require a firm process of socialization and ongoing encouragement to engage with those outside the family but their loyalty and companionship are unquestionable.

They are prone to runny eyes and with a pure white coat tear-staining is likely to occur so regular wiping of the area around the eyes will help prevent this from becoming unsightly.
