Brantwood is the historic home of John Ruskin - one of the greatest thinkers of the Victorian era.
Discover a fascinating insight into the world of John Ruskin and the last 28 years of his life spent at Coniston. Filled with many fine paintings, beautiful furniture and Ruskin's personal treasures, the house retains the character of its famous resident.
The 250-acre estate comprises of woodland, moors and lakeside meadows with a diversity of habitats and ecosystems rich in wildflowers and wildlife. The six distinct gardens stretch as far as the lake shore, with many beautiful spots to enjoy the spectacular views. Dogs are more than welcome in our estate as well as our restaurant.
