We have teamed up with the Kennel Club to offer 20 lucky readers the chance to snap up a pair of tickets to London’s biggest canine event of the year.
Billed as ‘the pawwfect family day out’, Discover Dogs will be taking place at ExCeL London on October 20 and 21. Following on from the success of last year’s show, which boasted a record-breaking 33,000 visitors, there will be the chance to see hundreds of dogs, chat to owners, indulge in a spot of canine retail therapy courtesy of more than 200 trade stands, and watch world-class displays and competitions.
This fun event is the perfect opportunity to meet almost 200 breeds of pedigree dog, from the popular to the more unusual and vulnerable, and learn all about their distinctive personalities, traits, and looks. New for 2018 will be two recently-recognised Kennel Club breeds, the Barbet — an ancient French gundog — and the Black and Tan Coonhound. If cross-breeds are closer to your heart, then don’t miss the Scruffts semi-finals. The nation’s favourite cross-breed competition runs heats around the country throughout the year, with the finalists competing for the prestigious Scruffts Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year title at Crufts.
For younger visitors, the kids zone offers lots of arts, crafts, face painting, and prize draws, while there’s the chance to try training, agility, and an obstacle course with a ‘professional’ dog in the Young Kennel Club’s ‘Have a go’ activity ring. Meanwhile, signing up as a YKC member will bag a free ticket to Discover Dogs and Crufts. As well as obtaining advice on choosing the right breed to suit your lifestyle, there’ll be a variety of displays in the main ring to keep all ages entertained. From the ever-popular Southern Golden Retriever display team, fast-paced agility and flyball, to the Metropolitan Police and heelwork to music, there’s something for everyone at this year’s Discover Dogs.
