Play Biting 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I've had this problem for a while but I just cant stand it any more!Scooby's a lovely dog but he play bites me so much, we play in the garden together a lot and he gets so excited and starts to play bite, which wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't so big as when he jumps up he's as big as me! I use a spray bottle inside but I don't like to carry it around with me all the time I've tried every thing the books say and I have to admit I do get a bit frightened when he does it and there is nobody else around as he gets so close to my face I think one day he's going to bite my face .
We might employ a trainer if nobody here can give any advice we haven't tried.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Aahh really sorry to hear that you are having this trouble . Im sorry to say that I have pretty much the same problem with my 7 month old lab Riggs !

I actually rang a trained professional out of the yellow pages and he gave me loads of advice over the phone, so didnt have to pay a penny !

The only advice i can give you is to totally ignore him when he does this. So when he begins to play bite in the house either stand up and ignore him (if you are sitting down). If he continues to jump up and bite then walk slowly away, not saying anything and part yourself from him i.e go in another room and shut him out. Give it 30seconds then go back in, repeat the process until he is calm when you go back to him and then reward him with a treat or fuss.
This technique has worked with Riggs although it is said that a dogs behaviour usually gets worse before it gets better but if you are persistant it should eventually work!

Scooby sounds just like Riggs in that he does it for your attention that he craves! So by ignoring him you are taking away what he wants and he should learn from this.

As for when you are out, it is good that Scooby enjoys playing with you as this is good for recall in that he knows that coming back to you is fun! But when his playing gets too much for you I would get him into a sit and stay then reward him.

Hope that helps! I know not all dogs are the same but it works with mine !

Give him a ferm "NO" and ignore him. Turn your back to him or walk away. If he behaves when you do this praise him and tell him how good he is. It works for me. I have had puppies and dogs that have done the same.
Hope it works!

That's what Milo did when he got over excited, and actually... he hasn't done it now for about a week, since using the Pet Corrector... so fingers crossed that's worked!!
