Finally after a year of trying Dottie has finally managed to grasp the concept of fetching

I can only throw the ball about a foot away at the mo and its not always brought back to my feet but it's better than nothing

So pleased as eventually it's gonna be another way to give her a form of exercise. We just need to keep practising and once again my lil clicker has proved invaluable

Fantastic! Well done Dottie - Tess doesn't fetch - or rather she does but hasn't grasped the bringing the toy back!

She has her own version - catch where we toss the toy in the air and she catches it lol

Thats exactly what Dots used to do Jenna! She would chase something, then look at me as if to say ''why should i bring it back''

All i did is choose one toy, and hide it so it only comes out on special occasions and play tug so she learned to have fun with it. I had to teach her how to tug as well then i had to throw it and race her to get to it first (that was always highly comical to see lol)

Finally managed to get her to chase after it herself and pick it up just working on the bring it back now. So happy, but saying that whenever she learns something new im happy. Iv just taught her to do a figure of eight between my legs

Been trying that one with Molly but she unsure - still trying to learn twist and turn!

But she does touch and tap.

Clever Dots! And clever Loz for teaching her.

Molly knew what to do first day she got a ball lol - born to retrieve!

I thank agility for the figure of eight. Dots had to learn left and right for that so i just taught her to go through my legs and then i say left or right and through again. I just need to get it down to one command now

Clever Molls, doing what she was born to do

Loz, ANY dog can be taught to retrieve and most of the time we find that dogs which are TAUGHT to do something end up doing it better than the "naturals". Also with a natural retriever the owner never learns how to train it!

So do not do yourself down.

Well Done Dottie

Me and Millie had to play fetch with two tennis balls for quite a while She has finally grasped the idea that its much more fun when you bring the ball back so i can throw it again

Keep practising be fetchnig all sorts before you know it.

Millie even worked out where the tennis balls were kept at home, would dig them out and bring them to your feet in the living room as a gentle but lady like hint!
