What was it that made you pick your dog/s?

Stupid as it may sound, I believe that some dogs and people were meant to be.

Lots of people I meet with Jools and tell the story of how I got her say it was meant to be. I suppose it could be true, as she is a dog I would never ever thought of owning!!

I have absolutely no idea what would happen to me if anything happened to Jools, we have such a laugh!

We also seem to get into lots of trouble together ¬__¬ . . . Fate?!

I agree. Nearly 5 years ago I had to have my young springer spaniel put to sleep. She became very ill very suddenly and I was absolutely devasted. I'd had her from 8 wks and she'd gone everywhere with me. I vowed (like a lot of people) I wouldn't have another dog, just couldn't suffer the heartbreak.

Over the years I looked on rescue sites, saw family members acquire puppies but I kept my resolve.

Then last year I was with my aunt and she needed to drop something off for a friend. There was a litter of newborn springer spaniel puppies in the living room. My heart melted! There were 7 pups but one in particular caught my eye, he didn't even have his eyes open! Can't explain it but I could not stop thinking about him. 2 months passed I heard through my aunt that a few of the pups had gone but my fave was still there.

A short phone call, we jumped in the car and went to get him, all very impulsive! I know it sounds soppy but I know he was mean't for me and I can't imagine being without him now

Aww, that's really sweet!!

Kind of like my mum and her cocker spaniel Jazz, who was put to sleep in November, it was really horrible. She said there would never ever be another dog, especially one like Jazz, who was such a poorly little pup, who came from a dodgy breeder, in it for money, my mum couldn't leave her when she saw Jazz.

But a few months down the line we saw an advert for Misty our Elkhound, who, from description, was an exact identical to Jazz, in a different body!
Misty is the size of dog Jazz always wanted to be, and despite Misty's problems, I think her and my mum were just meant to be!

The reason i went for a border collie as i love walking and i wanted a dog which had a high energy drive to do that. Plus i wanted to compete in agility

Well i narrowed it down to two litters, one was a pedigree litter and the other was from a well bred working line. Well i went to see the litter on the farm first and there was this little short haired wriggly border collie puppy, i picked her up and she nuzzled into my hair and blew into my ear before falling asleep

Well i paid my deposit for her there and then, but i had to wait two weeks to pick her up so one she was old enough and two for me to get the rest of the money together for her

The same happened with Summer, i went to go pick a pup with my dad for my sisters bday, and there was two of the litter left, one was really quiet and the other really bouncy, but the quiet puppy came and laid in my lap and i fell in love. I tried so hard to persuade dad to get both and let megan have the bouncy pup but he said no so we just left with Summer for her. Iv never seen my sister cry so much over a bday present she was so happy with her.

I can't comment on Milly cos i never went to see the litter cos i wasn't living at home at that point.

I picked the particular litter because the breeder only lives about 20 minutes from my house, so I knew I'd be able to go and visit the puppies load and create a bond

I was actually going to see two litters on the same day... well, I say that... but one was just one puppy (a bit older than they would normally sell at) left from the litter this woman has bred... and although she sent me a photo and he did look lovely, I'm rather glad I didn't go for that one because it doesn't sound quite right -_-
Oh yeah, I remember why I was suspicious, no hip and eye scores!

ANYWAY, I saw the puppies and chatted with the breeder to check out if she seemed genuine, and I put my deposit down there and then!

Milo was actually the only puppy left who hadn't been chosen already, but he was the one I had my eye on anyway ^_^ he came running up to me first and bashed into my hand and fell over and I remember cuddling him and him sucking on my chin... lol XD
