We are a group set up to rehome retired racing greyhounds. The group is a branch of the national Retired Greyhound Trust charity, which has branches throughout the country and is run entirely by volunteers. The RGT was first established in 1975 and has homed some 45,000 dogs since then.
Not sure if a greyhound would suit your lifestyle? A greyhound's racing life is a short one - most are retired by the time they are just 3 or 4 years old, some at an even younger age due to injury - which is why so many of this remarkable breed need our help.
Contrary to popular belief, they don't need vast amounts of exercise: they are sprinters, not marathon runners, perfectly happy with a couple of 20 minute walks a day - though these gentle and affectionate animals will happily trot alongside you for as long as you ask them to do so.
Generally, they settle quickly into a home and soon learn to become pets.
All branches need volunteers for dog walks and to assist with fundraising - can you help? Or, if you or someone you know is interested in adopting a new pet, browse the pages of this site to find out
