| German Shepherds need homes |
|
![]() Sid and John are just two of the dogs needing homes German Shepherd Rescue Cambs, Norfolk and Suffolk say because of the economic climate, a 'high volume' of dogs are coming into the rescue centre for re-homing. Reasons, they say, include people losing their homes or struggling to afford the upkeep of their dog including the high cost of veterinary bills and the closure of some rescue homes because of the credit crunch. Lanie Watson is the Peterborough-based head co-ordinator for the charity in this region. “This credit crunch we are in has affected us in as much as there is not so many homes coming forward now. I think this is due in many cases to both parties in the household having to work now to survive and also perhaps the misconception that a large dog would cost a lot to feed." "This is not true, a good balanced and healthy diet for your dog need not cost a fortune a month. Of course we are on hand here to advise with this.” If you would like to offer one of these dogs a new start or would like to volunteer, call 01733 768155.
