Year of the Dog has been named the best animal-friendly movie at this year’s PETA awards held in London.
In recognition of its astounding portrayal of the rich and rewarding relationships that can develop between animals and their guardians, Mike White's movie Year of the Dog has earned a PETA Europe ‘Proggy Award’ for the Best Animal-Friendly Movie.
The PETA group's annual Proggy Awards recognize animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture. Last year’s winner was the penguin adventure animation, Happy Feet, starring Elijah Wood. Year of the Dog is a quirky, funny and warm-hearted film about a woman's journey of self-discovery following the loss of her beloved companion animal. "Year of the Dog has encouraged millions of people to think about our relationship with animals," said PETA's Alexia Weeks.
